CD11c (EP157)

CD11c is an adhesion receptor of the leukocyte function-associated family of molecules. This cell surface antigen is normally expressed on granulocytes, monocytes, natural killer cells, macrophages, and small populations of T- and B-lymphocytes. Anti-CD11c detects a formalin-resistant epitope of CD11c expressed in hairy cell leukemia (HCL). HCL is a distinctive yet uncommon chronic B-cell lymphoproliferative disorder, predominantly involving the bone marrow and spleen. Besides being consistently expressed in HCL, CD11c is rarely detected in lymphomas; such as small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL), and nodal and extranodal marginal zone lymphoma (MZL).1-3
